Conjuring abstracts from the depths of untold grief and trauma, to the simply joys and pleasures of daily life and music, Brooke’s artwork focuses on the range and the duality of the human experience. Mrs. Merrill is a Boston-based mixed media artist, and lives a rich life in a near-constant state of creation.

In 2021, Brooke became disabled and her relationship to art changed; it wasn’t just something to be done in spare time, it was now one of the only things she could do. Through navigating this after coming from a tiny town with 3000 people as a queer woman, her art focuses on grief and growth with a common thread of fostering connection and community. The message is simple: no matter who you are or how broken you may feel, her art is a place where you can exist exactly as you are.
